This page explains what cookies and similar browser storage mechanisms are used on the public website and how you can manage them.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small data files stored by the browser. The website also uses local browser storage for consent, theme, and interface preferences.
2. Cookie categories on this site
| Category | Examples | Purpose | Retention | Can be disabled |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary | bulgakov_cookie_consent, bulgakov_cookie_prefs | Store the visitor's consent choice | Up to 1 year | No |
| Functional | bulgakov_theme and other local preference keys | Save visual and interface preferences chosen by the visitor | Until the visitor clears browser storage | Yes |
| Analytics | Yandex.Metrika cookies such as _ym_* | Measure site traffic and usage after explicit consent | According to the analytics provider settings | Yes |
| Technical diagnostics | Temporary browser-side identifiers for approved diagnostics, if enabled | Detect frontend errors only after analytics consent | Only while the relevant diagnostic mode is active | Yes |
3. Analytics and external counters
The public Astro site enables analytics-related third-party scripts only after the visitor explicitly allows analytics cookies in the banner or settings modal.
If analytics consent is withdrawn, the site clears known analytics identifiers from browser storage and the visitor can continue using the site with only necessary features.
4. Managing your choice
- Use the cookie banner on the site to choose between necessary-only mode, full acceptance, or custom settings.
- You can also delete cookies and local storage entries in your browser settings.
- Blocking necessary storage may affect language, consent, and interface behavior.
5. Contact
Questions about cookies and browser storage can be sent through the contacts page or to museibulgakova@culture.mos.ru .
